Qualifying

Keep in mind that H.O.P.E. Hotline is meant as a temporary assistance.  As much as we would LOVE to, we simply do not have the ability or resources to assist long-term.  We help out when there is a medical emergency.  Our limitations are a maximum or 12 months of services.  Based on that theory, we have qualifications that our clients must meet.

1) Must be a new diagnosis within the last 12 months.

2) Must be denied for medicaid, not currently receiving disability or any other state or federal assistance. (A denial due to lack of completion does not meet this qualification)

3)Clients must provide a statement of wages to meet the financial criteria.  Client counselors may request previous/current tax records to further prove financial status.

4)Clients must provide letters from doctor stating date of diagnosis, needs, limitations and expected duration.

5)Clients must provide letter from employer show decrease in hours/income.  The client must demonstrate a decrease in income due to injury or illness.

6)Once eligibility is granted, each case is eligible for services, there is a period limitation in which a client may receive services: up to a maximum of 12 months, the person is eligible for disabiliy or the person recovers, whichever comes first.  At the end of 12 months, there is a 24 month waiting period between cases per household/family, should there be a new diagnosis.

7)Each case is reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.

8)All services and funds are based on the availability of funds and volunteers.

9)Currently, we are servicing the Eastern North Carolina area.  As a result, client must be within our servicing area.

H.O.P.E. Hotline reserves the right to make changes to qualifying criteria as needed based on availability of services and funds. The above qualifications are just a summary of the steps needed to obtain services and are meant to be all inclusive.  We reserve the right to refuse service at any time.  Please contact us today to discuss the application process today.
