Foundation Built by Faith

Toetie is a native of The Netherlands.  She witnessed an already fragile Europe burst into the flames of World War II.  The war tested Toetie’s faith and threatened her life.  While the Nazis occupied her home and searched the surrounding area, Toetie’s parents hid two Jewish boys and helped downed allied pilots.

In 1954, Toetie became a registered nurse and she married in 1955.  She and her husband, Heiko, raised their family in Holland, Germany and in the United States.

Throughout the years, Toetie has served as a Crisis Hotline Volunteer both in Germany and for Tucson’s Help on Call.  She also has served as a Victim Witness Advocate for the Pima County Juvenile Court and as a member of her congregation’s social ministry committee.

Hope hotline  was created because Toetie saw a community need for a crisis hotline.  She envisioned an organization that offered comfort and support to those in need.  The success of Hope hotline  is due to Toetie’s ongoing commitment to the organization.  She has ensured that anyone who calls Hope hotline  will reach a caring soul.
